DESCRIPTION REVIEWS Osmo UV Protection Oils are clear, UV rated oils for new timber joinery, garden furniture, doors, window frames, cladding and other vertically structured joinery. Not recommended for horizontal surfaces such as timber decking. OSMO UV Protection Oil Tinted is a lightly coloured oil designed for exterior timber joinery, garden furniture, pergolas, doors, fascias, and other trim. It is not suitable for use on horizontal surfaces such as decking. The microporous surface allows the wood to breathe, reducing swelling and shrinkage, while also slowing the greying process on vertical surfaces with a UV protection factor of 12. The finish contains biocides to prevent mould, algae, and fungal attack. It is available in 5 lightly tinted colour tones plus "Natural", which is recommended for light coloured timbers such as pine and oak. However, it is not suitable for use on darker timbers as the white pigment may give the timber a chalky appearance. FINISH Enhances the woods natural character UV Protection contains biocides to resist the growth of algae, mildew and resist fungal attack PROTECTION Highly water and dirt resistant Reduces wood swelling and shrinkage Microporours breathable finish which won't crack, peel, flake or blister APPLICATION & MAINTENANCE Easy to apply Microporous breathable finish which does not crack, peel or flake USES FOR OSMO UV PROTECTION OIL Cladding and timber structures PRODUCT DETAILS Coverage: Approximately 18 square metres per litre with one coat Application: Good quality floor brush Drying Time: 12 hours No of Coats: 2 Storage times: 5 years unopened, 1 year once opened OSMO ADVICE On a 2 coat application, the UV Protection Oils block the greying process of the timber by a UV protection factor of 12, when compared with untreated timber. All untreated exterior timber will grey off over time, but UV Protection oil has been developed to slow the greying process. However, in Australia, due to the high level of UV rays, the clear UV Protection Oils have a lifespan of 4 - 6 months in fully exposed weather conditions, and 12-18 months in areas that are totally weather protected. For longer protection, we recommend using one of the tinted UV Oils, tinted Decking Oils or Natural Oil Woodstain. A trial is always recommended first to determine suitability.
